Summary:
As a member of the Hitachi xEV Motor Design Engineering, the primary responsibility of this position is to design, plan, and coordinate multiple processes of product development used in automotive xEV motor.
Job
Responsibilities:
Participate with global Motor Design Engineering organizations in engineering activities of xEV traction motors:
original design, design change management, validation, production launch and problem troubleshooting.
Interface with customers, suppliers, internal and external contacts to achieve project deliverables.
Facilitate accurate & timely motor program technical communication.
Lead design change development and implementation.
Conduct failure mode analysis and troubleshooting in motor product life cycle.
Create / revise 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for motor and its components.
Create / revise technical specifications for motor and its components.
Document, analyze and communicate various types of technical data / information using industry standard software (e.
g.
Microsoft Office, Solidworks).
Support internal motor manufacturing sites for various engineering duties during development and mass production timing.
Support various types of cost management and improvement activities.
Qualifications:
Education:
Possess at min.
a B.
S.
degree in Mechanical Engineering studies or a related engineering field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of prior experience in automotive or similar industry.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
N/AKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have The qualified candidate is required to:
o Demonstrate fluent English communication, strong initiative / motivation and problem-solving skills.
o Have experience with program management.
Demonstrate ability to accurately document / analyze / communicate various types of data & information.
Have experience with DFMEA or DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Mode).
Have experience with designing electric motors - automotive preferred o Possess good skills with a CAD program for 3D model and 2D drawing creation.
o When public health situation permits, capable to travel occasionally as needed to international and domestic destinations to support motor program objectives.
Some extended training or program support time in Japan/China is a possibility.
Good to have The ideal candidate is preferred to:
o Possess MS or PhD degree in a related engineering field.
o Have demonstrated success in project leadership or supervisory experience.
o Have successful experience in development program, problem troubleshooting, or design change implementation.
Have practical work experience with electric motors.
o Have experience in structural, thermal or magnetic FEA calculations.
o Have a second language proficiency e.
g.
Japanese.
Working conditions:
Physical Demands:
Required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Carrying equipment up and down stairs.
Occasional overtime will be required.
Travel:
Some domestic and International travel may be required up to 20%.
Must have a valid driver's license.
